About the Journal

Aims and scope

Digital Society, Governance & Development publishes scholarship on digital transformation, technology and society, digital government, platform economies, AI governance, development studies, digital media, education technology and digital inequality.

Contributions we welcome

We consider original research, review articles, methods papers and evidence-led perspectives within the journal’s scope. Submissions should state a clear question, explain their contribution, report methods transparently and engage critically with relevant literature.

Disciplinary standards

Explain the theoretical framework, study context, sampling, analytical method and limitations. For interviews, surveys or platform data, describe consent, privacy safeguards and ethical review. Reflect on positionality and the limits of generalising across institutions or communities.

Peer review and editorial decisions

Research and review articles ordinarily receive at least two independent reports under double-anonymous peer review. Editors first assess scope, completeness, research quality and ethics. Reviewers advise; the responsible editor makes the final decision. Non-research content may receive editorial assessment and is identified by article type.

Open access and publication charges

Authors retain copyright and articles are published under CC BY 4.0. There is no submission fee. The standard APC is US$150 per accepted article, payable only after final acceptance. Full and partial waivers are administered confidentially and do not affect editorial decisions.

Publication and the scholarly record

Accepted work proceeds through copyediting, author proofs and production. Publication depends on completion of these stages; acceptance dates or review times are not guaranteed. Corrections and retractions are linked to the affected article to preserve a transparent scholarly record. Read Volume 1, Issue 1 (2026) for the journal’s published editorials.
